We started on a Boise bench home complete gut job/remodel, down to the studs, in November of 2018. Our family worked on doing a majority of the demolition work prior to any of the inside remodel work, as we worked as the General Contractors for the project. Mark Stevens with Remodels Plus LLC and his son Reed, started working in February 2019. Mark had previously worked with us on some room remodels in our previous home in Meridian. Based on our previous experience and relationship with Mark, we didn't plan on doing this project without his involvement. He worked with us on putting the initial remodel plans in place and offered creative solutions to some of the challenges we encountered. Mark worked on all of the re-framing which consisted of re-supporting the roof and moving walls on both the first floor and basement, in addition to assisting on the plumbing rework. The project was fully permitted, with structural engineering involvement, due to the roof issues and moving structural walls. Mark worked with the structural engineer to create cost effective and efficient solutions that allowed for fully engineered structural improvements meeting all code requirements. Mark and Reed worked throughout the year until August of 2019 to fully complete the renovations. We did exceed our original timeline but that was due to the need to include the teardown and re-construction of the garage which was not in the original critical path. Mark's expertise in building allowed for us to build a brand new larger garage as well as re-frame the existing roof tying it into the garage expansion. During the re-framing of the roof, Mark installed a cold roof in both the existing structure as well as the new garage. This is an energy efficient addition that is planned to further reduce our operating costs over the lifetime of the home.
Throughout the entire process Mark and Reed showed up on time, communicated when he might be showing up late, or miss days due to other obligations. Mark and Reed helped us work through scheduling issues that arose when our original painter had to cancel his commitment. The new painter only had a limited window of opportunity to complete our project which necessitated an accelerated schedule for trim completion. During the extent of this project, any concerns or questions brought up by either party were handled in a professional and timely manner. I think the biggest compliment we can give Mark, is that if we were to ever remodel a home again, he would be the first call we would make. Not only do we have an appreciation for Mark and his many talents, but we now call him a life long friend.
Mark is a true craftsman. Excellent work. Innovative ideas for challenging situations and a great eye for quality.
